I spent the afternoon in my art studio making these fun Artist Trading Cards for our upcoming ATC Meeting on Wednesday, June 25th.
Our themes this month were Circus, Candy, Maya Angelo Quotes and/or “Salt” techniques. I chose Circus and Salt as a technique to make my funny Tattoo Lady cards.
I started by cutting down watercolor paper into 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 ATC sized cards. Got out some kosher salt, Lumiere metallic gold acrylic paint, a Tim Holtz stamp, Versafine black ink and sheet of tattoo ladies printed on glossy ink jet paper.
I painted the watercolor ATC’s with the gold metallic paint, spritzed them with water and then sprinkled salt over the wet paint. I let these dry while cutting out my tattoo ladies.
After the paint dried, I rubbed the salt off the watercolor paper to reveal this textured background. The salt actually “pulled” up the paint as it dried. I love the rusty metal look it gave the paper.
I then stamped the fun background stamp on to the ATC and painted the edges with turquoise acrylic paint. I also painted some fun wood stars with the turquoise paint to add to the cards.
Finished up my cards with a fun saying I printed on cardstock then cut into strips, inked and glued on to each card. Added a bit of bling with some diamond glitter glue. Got 16 made and ready to trade!
